to take into consideration the propriety of memorializing the Legislature of Maryland to partition off the upper section of said county into a separate county. The meeting was organized by appointing Gov. Howard Chairman, and George Cooke, Secretary.
After the grounds for the necessity of this measure were freely and
fully discussed and explained, the following resolutions were unanimously
adopted:

several respectable citizens present, and residing in the same, that the
territory embraced in the bend of the Patapsco Falls at Ellicott’s Mills from
its upper to its lower termination be included within the limits of the
proposed new county, this meeting would consider the said territory as a
valuable acquisition thereto, and the more particularly, when it is known that
the position o a portion of the same constitutes a part of the village of “Ellicott’s
Mills,” and would therefore gladly receive and embrace it within the limits of
the proposed new county.
Resolved, That the chair appoint a committee to prepare a memorial to
the Legislature to embrace the above objects, to be presented to the general
meeting of the citizens for their consideration, to be held at this place on
Saturday next the 25th inst.
The chair in conformity thereto, appointed the following committee –
Geo. Howard, Thos. B. Dorsey, Nath’l. H. Ellicott, Edward Gray, Allen Thomas,
George Cooke, Gustavus Warfield, Andrew Ellicott, Chas. D. Warfield.
Resolved, That this meeting stands adjourned to Saturday next the 25th
inst. At 12 o’clock.
Resolved. That the newspapers in
the city of Baltimore be requested to publish the above proceedings.
