MDLANDrec.net - Find your house history or family lands from home

Maryland land records online (deeds, morgages) allow you to trace back owners of your house or other historic buildings from home. Howard County separated from Anne Arundel County in 1840, so for earlier searches, use AA indices. The MDLAND site is also convenient for geneaology, to find your ancestor(s) home and other properties they may have owned. How to navigate MDLANDrec.net is explained with photos of each page, below.

You need a name somewhere along the line, so if you are doing an historic property you may find name(s) on HABS Historic American Buildings Survey (Library of Congress) HERE , or MIHP Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties HERE . Deeds can contain a variety of useful information. Some years ago, I used both MDLANDrec and MIHP (and other sources) to write a post on Mrs. Disney's Hotel on Main Street HERE and eventually posted it at the start of lockdown.

Go to MDLANDrec.net HERE Click on "Create Account" at upper left.

Create account then first page "Select County" upper left

then "Active Indices" on left,

then choose series in middle

then buyer/seller grantee/grantor name search by first letters,

"Deeds and Mortgages" list shows book (Vol.) and page numbers.

put those book and page numbers on first page

and, you have the deed!
